Enjoying a spooky and safe Halloween

In the light of the coronavirus pandemic and tier 2 restrictions in place in London unfortunately our usual Halloween activities are unable to take place.

There are plenty of suggestions on the web on how families can enjoy Halloween in a spooky, creative and safe way. These include:

  • Organising a Halloween treasure hunt within your apartment.

  • Host a spooky film night: make a ‘Halloween at home cinema’, put on your best fancy dress and settle down to watch something spooky like Hotel Transylvania, The Addams Family. Or something scary for the grown-ups…

  • Organise a virtual Halloween costume party with friends over Zoom, FaceTime etc: make a competition for the ‘best dressed person’ and video call your friends and family.

  • Eat, drink and be scary: put on a feast that includes delicacies like bloodied finger hot dogs, decorated creepy cupcakes, toffee apples and satsuma pumpkins!

  • Hold a virtual horror quiz: send out invites and ask everyone to write ten questions each. Throw in a music round of guess the horror movie theme tune. Extra points for the best fancy dress!

Halloween will be different but it can still be fun: enjoy a spooky time with your family and please stay safe! Only meet people socially outside in groups of up to six, follow social distancing guidelines and wash hands, cover face and make space.
