Sadly there’s no Santa’s grotto in Canary Wharf this year, but there’s still lots of festive fun to be had on our doorstep.

As Remembrance Sunday approaches join Blue Badge Guide, Rob Williamson, for a series of walks to view, understand and interpret the temporary art installations of Canary Wharf’s Remembrance Art Trail created by Mark Humphrey.

Yesterday it was announced that the opening of Crossrail, aka the Elizabeth Line, has been delayed by at least nine months to enable further testing of signalling and other infrastructure.  It is now scheduled to open on 1st October 2019.  

On Saturday 11th August (5-7pm) it's picnic time at Canary Riverside.  Bring a rug, drinks and nibbles, and join your fellow residents in the garden to enjoy the summer evening and a book reading by Mark Hebwood, Canary Riverside's very own resident writer.  

We have been asked to confirm the role of a Tribunal-appointed Manager, following some lessees confusing the role of the Manager with that of a managing agent.  

A Manager appointed by the courts under s.24 of the Landlord and Tenants Act 1987 takes over the Landlord's right to manage the buildings.  They are directed by the Tribunal and act independently of the landlord and leaseholders.  LEASE, the government agency responsible for advising leaseholders, describes the role of a Manager here.  

We have an author in our midst: Canary Riverside resident Mark Hebwood has written Happiness Rules, described as 'self-help for the thoughtful reader'.

HML has written to lessees advising that it will not be carrying out the wholesale replacement of electricity meters at Canary Riverside and will instead be replacing meters on a piecemeal basis, i.e., as and when required.  

Following the recent lift failure in Belgrave Court please find below an update from HML, the managing agent. 

Residents whose flats face towards Westferry Circus will from time to time have been disturbed by a 'boom boom!' noise every time large vehicles pass over a loose 'blocker': the security devices embedded in the access roads to the Canary Wharf estate, which are raised to prevent access by unauthorised vehicles.

A number of residents are querying the meter readings contained on the 'statement of electricity consumption' that supports the Q1 electricity bills recently issued by HML.

REMINDER: On Friday 20th April between 10am-4pm the fire shutter leading to the P1 parking level will be undergoing testing and servicing.  If you require your car during this period you must remove it before 10am, as there will be no possibility of using the access ramp until the shutter works are completed.  Residents whose spaces on P2 will be unaffected.  

A reminder that this Sunday (22nd April) is London Marathon day - which means road closures to accommodate the thousands of people descending on Canary Wharf to watch the runners and wheelchair racers as they past through the wharf.  Given this means our car park is effectively closed for the duration of the marathon, HML are taking the opportunity to carry out essential maintenance works on the car park fire shutters and the car park will be closed.

New door entry handsets are being rolled out across the estate, and Hanover is the first building to have the new units installed.
